 STAY - in SIT position

- Give the command to SIT

- (While standing to the right of your dog) With your dog in the SIT position

Wave the palm of your left hand, from outside the dog's position towards your thigh, passing your palm in front of his face

(- DO NOT TOUCH THE DOG -)

- At the same time saying "Stay" in a very long, drawn out sound, "Ssstaaay"

Then keeping your left foot in the same position

- swing yourself and your right foot forward in front of your dog

- stay one second

- then return to your original position (to the side of your dog)

- Praise him (SOFTLY) immediately, while holding your dog in this same position.

To release the dog from the STAY position

Say "Ok" in a happy voice.

(Do not let him loosen up from the STAY position until you tell him "OK"

Practice = try to stay in front of him a few seconds longer each day.

Then, after a few days, try going a little further away in front of him

(After a few weeks, he will be able to stay for 5 minutes and you will be able to go out from his sight)

IMPORTANT:

At anytime, if he moves before you give the "OK" = you must be ready to firmly call out to him "NO, STAY"

If he does not immediately listen you must rush over to him and begin the exercise over again.
